Copious amounts of blood, organs spilling out, and exploding heads all point to gore. Here are some great gory movies...or films worth watching for some decent amount of gore.
In no particular order -
1 Brain Damage - A talking brain creature latches onto the necks of various human hosts and sends them on psychedelic trips. Here's an extremely weird movie by Frank Henenlotter, director of Frankenhooker, Basket Case, Basket Case 2, and Basket Case 3. The creature effects aren't amazing but fit the style and budget of the movie, and while the gore is very limited, it is still impressive. GORE SPOILER Watch this movie for a scene where the main character pulls his brain out through his ear with tons of blood. Think Naomi Watts pulling the rope out of her mouth from The Ring but with brains from the ear.
2 Zombie (aka Zombi 2) - The living dead hunger for flesh on an island. In this 1979 film by goremaster Lucio Fulci, you get to see a great campy zombie flick with a memorable gory scenes. Badass zombies and stuff you haven't seen zombies do in other movies. GORE SPOILER Watch this movie for a slow and painfully bloody eye-gouging, zombie flesh eating, and shooting said zombies. Watch for the zombie in the water.
3 The Blob - A meteor lands outside of a small town and soon the small creature that came with it turns into a freaking huge blob. This is the remake from 1988 by Chuck Russell with great gore that totally destroys people. GORE SPOILER Watch this movie for incredibly disgusting morphing of a guy getting consumed by the blob and a guy getting sucked into a garbage disposal.
